TWIFLEX
Hydraulic
Marine Disc Brakes

The hydraulic calipers described here meet the demand for light to heavy braking systems.  Like every Twiflex caliper they feature easy friction pad replacement and simple mounting, either singly or in groups.  Standard bleed screw positions dictate mounting within 15° of horizontal, (except for model GMR-H) but other mounting positions can be supplied to order.  A range of master cylinders including air/hydraulic pressure intensifiers, hydraulic pressure intensifiers and spring-acutated master cylinders (air or hydraulically released) is available, together with controllers for interfacing with the user's control scheme.  All the calipers use mineral base oil hydraulic fluid of SAE 27 viscosity, such as Burmah Castrol Hyspin AWS32, Shell Tellus 27, Pennziol AW32 or equal.  They are also suitable for use with standard water-oil or water-glycol emulsions and other non-flammable hydraulic mineral base oil fluids.  Special seals are required when brake fluid (vegetable base) is to be used in the calipers.
Marine Disc Brakes - T40 Model T40 MODEL
Low and medium duty calipers with two bolt side mounting.
Has inlet port and bleed screw in each cylinder.
Pads are replaced without removing caliper.
  • Hydraulic caliper with self-retraction of pads for approximately .039" maximum retraction at each pad.
  • Split caliper design features simple mounting using two 3/4" diameter (or M20) bolts supplied by user.
  • Cailper is for use with 1" thick disc.
  • Center plate of caliper mounting bracket is to be same as disc thickness (1").
  • Maximum allowable end float is approximately ±1/32".
  • Normal working pressure is 1250 PSI and maximum pressure is 1450 PSI.
  • Total oil displacement for .039" retraction is .7 in3 per caliper.
  • Caliper weight - 44 lbs.
VCH MODEL
